Of all the 80s horror icons, Freddy Krueger is perhaps the most enduring - lurking in our hearts, our fears, and especially our dreams. Immortalised in the Nightmare on Elm Street series, this razor-fingered dream demon turned the act of sleeping into a death sentence. With his severely burned face, striped sweater, and that infamous fabricated glove with razor-sharp fingers, Freddy carved out a unique place in slasher history by doing what no other killer could: he hunts you where you're most vulnerable, in the subconscious landscapes of the Dream World itself.

Brought to terrifying life by the legendary Robert Englund, Freddy wasn't just another silent stalker - he was a wisecracking, sadistic showman who turned murder into performance art. Englund invested the character with twisted humour that made the graphic violence somehow even more disturbing, creating a dialogue between predator and prey that redefined what a horror villain could be. He didn't just kill you; he entertained himself doing it.

Since his debut, Freddy has slashed his way through countless sequels, reboots, TV series, comics, and video games, proving that some nightmares never die - they just keep coming back for more.

It's no surprise that many people find marionettes creepy or scary, no matter how cute you try to make them. And so it is with no small relish that I find myself indulging the darker side of story and my own fascination with the macabre in creating a range of puppets to celebrate the shadows and the sinister. Dream demons especially offer endless inspiration - reminding us that sometimes the scariest place isn't out there in the dark, but inside our own heads.
