Meet Zerafina, the Fire Dragon, an elemental force of nature who makes his nest in Earth's burning core, rolling in 5000-degree molten rock as comfortably as a bear in its winter den. He accesses the outer world through thousands of volcanic 'wormholes,' bursting forth from craters in sprays of boiling magma and fiery light. His personality is as furious and destructive as the flaming element he draws power from—a wild and warring creature who holds little faith in humanity.
Guardian of the Core
Zerafina watches with growing rage as humans continue to mine through the planet's crust, feeding corporate interests with short-sighted stupidity and no regard for the damage they inflict. He sees the scars left by endless drilling, the disruption of ancient geological rhythms, the disrespect shown to the very foundation of the world. His patience, never abundant to begin with, grows thinner with each passing age.
He brings the fire and he brings the fury. Zerafina is not a dragon to be trifled with—he is a warning written in flame and ash, a reminder that the Earth itself has defenders who will not stand idle forever. Humankind will need to find better alternatives to fix the world... and soon. Zerafina is not known for his patience, and his wrath burns hotter than any volcano.
Despite his fearsome nature, Zerafina represents the essential power of transformation that fire brings—destruction, yes, but also renewal, purification, and the forge that shapes new beginnings. Elemental Dragon Artistry
Creating Zerafina required an extraordinary journey through multiple crafts and techniques. From pattern-making to soft sculpture, texturing, airbrushing, hand painting, and skeletal design before ultimate assembly and costuming, every stage represents a convergence of artistic vision and technical mastery. Working from a fire-inspired color palette, his physical form embodies the fierce, consuming nature of his element—reds, oranges, and golds that flicker like living flame.
Interestingly, all the natural elements are represented in puppet-making itself: clay (earth and water), kiln-firing (fire), sculpting body forms (wood and metal), and breathing the final breath of life into each creation (air). These synchronicities have kept The Squeaking Tribe making marionettes for over a quarter of a century.
