Gogol: Tenacious Strategist of the Underguard
Gogol is an Underwolder from the Underguard. Despite her small stature, she's known for being tenacious and a clever strategist. She wears her guard uniform with personal flourishes that highlight her feminine appeal while maintaining professionalism. She's one of the boys when it comes to socializing and drinking, but she's not interested in romantic relationships regardless of gender.
The Land of Odd
Gogol exists in the richly imagined Land of Odd, a world inspired by Brian Froud's Podlings from The Dark Crystal. Unlike the earthy tones of Podlings, the Oddlings celebrate a kaleidoscope of colors and diverse personalities. The Land is home to diverse communities—from Desert-dwellers to Underwolders, Aeyriekin to Swamplings, Oceanics to Forestkind—each with their own cultures, beliefs, and traditions.
The Craft
Each Gogol marionette is handmade in Australia by The Squeaking Tribe, featuring a sculpted clay head with hand-painted details, a unique Underguard costume made from specialty fabrics and collected materials, and professional 6-string marionette controls. Standing 25cm tall (60cm when strung) and weighing 0.6kg, each piece is unique with its own story told through carefully chosen textiles, jewelry, and distinctive details.
