Mephistopheles (or Mephisto) is an incarnation of the Devil who appeared to Doctor Faustus offering to trade the secrets of human knowledge in exchange for his immortal soul. It is an early example of early Germanic lore reinterpreted into the dramatic arts by Christopher Marlowe and later revisited in the works of Goethe. Over all this time, the characters of Faust and Mephisto have become satirical caricatures to represent the precarious nature between humankind and the divine, the baser desires of mortality against the higher aspirations of the soul.

At the end of the day, Mephistopheles is just an awesome, rock-n-roll example of demon spawn in totally unique cloak of gold metal and cleverly wrought craftsmanship.

Halloween Horror Show: Frightening can be fun!

It’s no surprise that many people find marionettes creepy or scary, no matter how cute you try to make them. And so it is with no small relish that I find myself indulging the darker side of story and my own fascination with the macabre in creating a range of puppets to celebrate the shadows and the sinister. Here, horror icons from the silver screen rub shoulders with other things of nightmare in a grand monster mash of ghoulish celebration. Enter if you dare – here there be monsters!
