Jason Voorhees from “Friday the 13th” – Classic 80’s Horror Marionette

Description

Launching in 1980 at the advent of what many consider to be modern horrors golden years, Jason Voorhees is, among a select royalty of similar psychopaths of the era, an enduring and iconic image of the unstoppable ‘other’ which lurks at the heart of the very Ethos of Horror cinema. Celebrated not just through the 14-film franchise of slasher flicks under the “Friday the 13th” title, he has appeared in television series, comic books and computer games as a violent boogeyman striking fear (and a various assortment of weapons) into the hearts and psyches of American teens and horror fans alike. Hidden beneath a grotty, scarred hockey mask, his unsettling presence has become a modern image of fear and mortality for the younger generation which incurs his vengeance and remains a powerful image of evil which… let’s face it… is part of the pure fun inherent in the perfect creepy puppet. Halloween Horror Show: Frightening can be fun! It’s no surprise that many people find marionettes creepy or scary, no matter how cute you try to make them. And so it is with no small relish that I find myself indulging the darker side of story and my own fascination with the macabre in creating a range of puppets to celebrate the shadows and the sinister. Here, horror icons from the silver screen rub shoulders with other things of nightmare in a grand monster mash of ghoulish celebration. Enter if you dare – here there be monsters! Marionette in doll form is approximately 25cm in height or 60cm when strung.
